Questions?

Well, for starters, who are you, and what is "Horizons"?

I assume you're somehow connected to Aelanna, since this is Aelanna's board, but beyond that...

Hi, Stormcrow. :D I swear I'm much less bipolar most days.

I'm Agatha. Good-for-nothing ruffian, mother to a wonderful daughter, and general mess of failed art, writing, science, and social experiments.

I know Aelanna from the SCP Foundation, a project that we're both a part of. We got to know each other mostly over RPing and art and blah blah blah ALIENS OH MAN WE LOVE US SOME ALIENS.

Anyways, she handed this board off to me because I needed somewhere to organize and express my thoughts about the setting I'd created, dubbed Horizons. It takes place in a variety of times and locations, but largely centers in Earth's FC years (After First Contact with alien species, who turned out to have just been waiting around nearby for us to get the technology before introducing themselves. Very Prime Directive and all that Jazz. I watch a lot of Star Trek).

Horizons is a setting largely inspired by a number of things. Wayne D. Barlowe's Expedition can be blamed for starting it all, though, as well as Carla Speed McNeal's series of comics, Finder, and every single Sci-Fi novel I've ever read, especially the obscure ones from the eighties, which I always thought were the best. Anyways, my major loves in life were aliens, biology, psychology, politics, sociology, and telling stories, so they all sort of got mashed together into Horizons.

I've made literally scores of alien species over the years, some are interesting delves into true xenobiology (Sesshoun), others are artistic endeavors (), others were invented when somebody asked me to RP as a tentacle monster for a private session (Squiddie). Cram it all together and you've got...something.

It's a something. It's universe where people have to learn to get along with species that don't see in the same color spectrum. Where Hishnar will use you as spare parts for bio-computers, but squiddie will tend to your every whim. Where sometimes the laws of physics are meant to be broken, and reality to become a little bigger and a little more strange than we ever expected.

It's a place of new horizons, to be totally cheesy about it.

It'll also sort of be an RP setting too, once I manage to coalesce my too-much-notes about it. However, like most settings I work up in my brain it's large and strange enough that I'm never certain I can actually translate the jumble of things that are my ideas into actual comprehensive words and subjects and studies and whatnot.

I don't think I actually answered your questions very well, but I tried.
